Year One Forest School; Autumn 1 2014

Forest School - Autumn Term 1 2014/2015
Year 1 – Mrs Carter’s Class

Session 1

Our first session was a tidy up session as Forest School had become untidy over the summer holidays.  We took the litter pickers with us and had a good tidy up.  With so many helpers it didn’t take long to get Forest School looking the way we like it.

Our apple trees had some lovely looking apples on them and the hedge had lots of blackberries on.  Picking the fruit was one of our activities.  Mrs Mills then washed them for us and we tried the fruit during break.  It doesn’t get any fresher than that!

Session 2

Session 2 was all about using our observations skills.  We chose a photograph from a selection and had to find the object in Forest School.  It really made us look carefully at our surroundings.

We also carried on our tidying up from last week.  A big pile of branches had become overgrown so we tried getting as many of them out from the grass.  Some of them were really tangled up so teamwork really helped when we were dragging them out.

There was also time to look for minibeasts.  There are lots of frogs in Forest School this year and we know which logs they like hiding under.  Some of us held the frogs but we did make sure that we put them back where we found them.  Making potions using mud and rain water was as popular as ever as well.  No wonder we were ready for a drink and a snack at break time!
